about

I believe the main guitar riff that LD came up with for this song is actually a rip on “Things Don’t Change”, before we actually decided to cover that song. When I first heard this song (after LD’s and Charles’ treatments), my mind immediately went to Galaxie 500 and I did my best to approximate a Naomi Yang bass line (in all of 5 minutes, first take I believe). Couple all that with incredible vocal performances by Alison and Ken and a beautiful lyric….and DONE! – CRX

lyrics

Stay me – Oh, comfort me

It’s not the worst thing that could have happened –
Save your tears
It’s not the first time this has happened –
Save your pride

Stay me – Oh, comfort me

It’s not the worst thing that could have happened –
Save your tears

At every turn you think you’ll find
This matchless world you’ve left behind
Still breathless, waiting for the day
When all these cares are borne away
But time will never make amends
For might-have-beens…

No more a prophet or a seer
Premonition counts for nothing here
